Over 40 Malayalis stranded in Nepal without food and shelter amid Gen Z protest, urge government intervention
Kathmandu: A group of more than 40 Malayalis has been stranded in Nepal following widespread violence triggered by the government’s social media ban. The stranded travellers are from Kozhikode and Malappuram districts.
Stranded near Gaushala without food or shelter
The group, which includes elderly members, is stuck in Gaushala near Kathmandu. They report having no access to food, water, or accommodation. Most of them are from Mukkam, Koduvally and Kodiyathur in Kozhikode, and Areekode in Malappuram.
Trip began before violence spread
According to those stranded, they left India for Nepal by air in the early hours of Tuesday. By the time they reached Nepal, the unrest had already escalated, leaving them without any means of transport or safe shelter. Their travel was arranged through a Kozhikode-based agency.
