MVD takes the stick, initiates probe in connection with Akash Thillankeri's jeep ride | Video

Kannur: As his ride through Panamaram town in Wayanad district in a modified Jeep has gone viral on social media, a probe has been initiated against Akash Thillankeri, the prime accused in the Shuhaib murder, by the Motor Vehicles Department. According to the MVD, violations of traffic rules have taken place as the jeep had no number plate and Akash was not wearing the seat belt while driving the modified jeep.
Akash had shared the video of the ride as he filmed the ride through the town. Before posting the reel on his Instagram account, he had edited the video by adding film dialogue and mixing background music. In the video song, he could be seen riding through the town in a modified Jeep along with two friends. All three people sitting in the driving seat were not wearing seat belts.
It was on February 12, 2018 that Youth Congress leader SP Shuhaib of Mattannur was killed by a gang of CPM workers at Edayannur. Akash Thillankeri was arrested by the police in connection with this case and was charged as the prime accused in the case. Following this, CPM expelled him from the party.
But Akash, known as a staunch P Jayarajan loyalist, continued to create problems for the CPM as he appeared on social media as the self-acclaimed party loyalist and put the party on the backfoot on many occasions with this aggressive posture, which forced Jayarajan to say that Akash Thillanker is not the voice of the party in Thillankeri.
Akash was arrested under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) for various cases registered over the past five years, including the murders of Shuhaib and RSS leader Vineesh.
