Opposition moves adjournment motion over disruption of ‘Thrissur Pooram’

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has expressed willingness to discuss the adjournment motion moved by the opposition regarding the disruption of ‘Thrissur Pooram’. The discussion will be held in the assembly from 12 PM to 2 PM. It was senior Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan who gave notice for the adjournment motion.
The opposition wants to highlight that the ongoing investigation into the ‘Pooram disruption’ is a farce and that a judicial investigation would be more appropriate to reveal the ‘grand conspiracy’ behind the disruption.
It is the third consecutive day that the government is conceding to the opposition's demand for an adjournment motion. On the first day, the government accepted an adjournment motion related to the ‘PR agency controversy’, but the discussion did not take place as the session was adjourned following a ruckus in the assembly.
On Tuesday, the adjournment motion was presented in connection with the controversial meeting of ADGP Ajith Kumar with RSS leaders. After discussing the motion for around four hours, it was rejected by the assembly.
On Wednesday, the government also conceded to the opposition's demand to discuss another adjournment motion on Thrissur Pooram. The stance of CPI MLAs will be keenly observed today, as they have repeatedly claimed that the ‘Pooram’ was deliberately disrupted to defeat their candidate, VS Sunil Kumar. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is not present in the assembly on Wednesday due to health reasons. LSGD Minister MB Rajesh will reply to the adjournment motion.
