Onam festive rush powers KSRTC revenue to ₹8 crore on Chathayam

Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC achieved impressive gains through its Onam special services, generating ₹8 crore in revenue on Friday, the day of Chathayam. The transport corporation also recorded an increase in passenger numbers compared to previous years.

On Uthradam, passenger turnout reached 21.45 lakh, with 9.34 lakh female commuters availing the Priyadarshini concession scheme. Total revenue for the day stood at ₹7.88 crore, which included ₹2.04 crore worth of Priyadarshini free tickets. In comparison, the previous year's Uthradam saw 19.31 lakh passengers and a revenue of ₹7.57 crore.

On Thiruvonam day, KSRTC operated 2,597 buses, catering to 12.95 lakh commuters.

On Avittom (Thursday), 3,490 buses were operated, carrying 19.91 lakh passengers - up from 17.81 lakh during the corresponding period last year. Management attributed this financial success to advance assessments of high-demand days, deployment of extra services and effective service planning implemented for passenger convenience.
