Nurse in PPE kit gets stuck inside hospital elevator for over an hour, falls unconscious

Kochi: A nurse, who got stuck in an elevator for nearly one and half hours at the Kalamassery Medical College, claimed that nobody came for her rescue even though she rang the alarm bell for over 45 minutes.

She was later found lying unconscious inside the elevator. The nurse is working in the COVID-19 ward of the hospital and was wearing her PPE kit when the incident took place.

The elevator got stuck after the power went out while the nurse was moving from one floor to another with an echo machine and other equipment. However, the nurse claimed that no one came for her rescue even though she rang the alarm bell for a long time.

"Once the power went out, it was completely dark inside the elevator. There was not much space as I had the echo machine. As I was wearing the PPE kit, I was sweating profusely and it blocked my vision. After a while, I felt my arms and legs getting weak. I don't remember anything after that," the nurse recollected her experience. 

The nurse had entered the lift at 3.05 pm and she was found lying unconscious inside the elevator by colleagues around 4.20 pm. The nurse added that she is suffering from body pain as she fell down inside the elevator. She will be tested for COVID-19 as she has fever. 

Meanwhile, the Medical College authorities stated that they are unaware of such an incident.
