Noted writer Sethu honoured with Mathrubhumi Literary Award

Kochi: Noted writer Sethu has been honoured with Mathrubhumi Literary Award at a special event held in Mathrubhumi's office in Manjummel here on Saturday.
Prof MK Sanu handed over the prestigious award to Sanu. The award comprises a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, a citation and a sculpture.
“Sethu is a writer who has overcome the test of times. The ultimate purpose of literature is to depict the inner conflicts of human beings. Sethu has managed to do it so far through his work. His book ‘Pandavapuram’ is a testimony of his writing excellence. I am glad to present him with this prestigious award,” said Prof MK Sanu.
Mathrubhumi Managing Director MV Shreyams Kumar presided over the function. “Mathrubhumi is an institution that has always stood beside/supported great writers,” said Shreyams Kumar.
Mathrubhumi Chairman and Managing Director PV Chandran felicitated the writer with a golden shawl.
In his speech, PV Chandran recalled how he and former Mathrubhumi MD MP Veerendrakumar decided to honor and support writers with Mathrubhumi awards for their great contributions to Malayalam literature.
“Today Mathrubhumi is honoring the writer who stepped into the world of literature through his short story ‘Dahikkunna Bhoomi’ published in Mathrubhumi weekly 56 years ago,” PV Chandran noted.
Writers Subhash Chandran and Gracy and Mathrubhumi Kochi Regional Manager P Sindhu, among other prominent personalities, graced the occasion.
