New Delhi: The Supreme court has once again rejected the plea for an urgent hearing against the high court judgment upholding the appointment of Priya Varghese as Associate Professor at Kannur University. The Supreme Court asked the counsel for the petitioner, Joseph Scaria, what the urgency in the matter was.

A bench chaired by Justice J.K Maheshwari is considering the petition filed by the UGC and Joseph Scaria against Priya Varghese. Scaria’s counsel requested before the bench that the petition be heard urgently. However, the bench refused to accept the demand. The same request was made by Scaria’s lawyer last week also, but the court rejected the request.
