Kannur: CPM state secretary M V Govindan has dismissed allegations that criticism was raised within the party's state committee over leaders visiting astrologers. He stated that no such criticism was raised during the committee meeting and claimed that the reports circulating on social media are not true.

A senior leader from Kannur district had reportedly raised concerns during the state committee meeting stating that images of CPM leaders allegedly visiting astrologers had been widely circulated and held that such matters could not be justified before the public. The reported question was, “On what ideological basis are some leaders visiting astrologers?”

However, no other leaders reportedly took up the issue during the discussion, and even in the state secretary’s response, there was no reference to any such criticism.

Images had recently surfaced showing Govindan visiting a well-known astrologer, which had fuelled speculation and led to interpretations that the criticism was directed at him.
