One Nation One Election: Next Kerala Govt to have 3-year tenure

New Delhi: Even as the Ramnath Committee Report on One Nation One Election was handed over to the President on the other day, the next governments in various States, including Kerala, will have a tenure of only three years.

As per the report, the elections to the Parliament as well as the Assemblies will be held simultaneously in the country, and within 100 days, the elections to the local self government institutions will also be held.

With its implementation, the tenure of the state governments and local self governments will be till the next Lok Sabha elections.

On getting a nod for the same, then the next government in various States, including Kerala, will have a tenure of only three years. Around 10 other States will have a government for just a year or less, so as to hold elections simultaneously in 2029. 

There are 10 States government tenures of which will end in 2028. If elections are held in 2028 again to these assemblies then the cabinets will have only one -year tenure.
