Nenmara double murder: Police register case against 14 for causing havoc during Chenthamara’s arrest

Nenmara: The police here on Thursday have registered case against 14 people including four congress workers, following an incident of public disturbance during the arrest of Chenthamara, the accused in the Nenmara double murder case. The incident occurred on Tuesday night as the police nabbed Chenthamara.

According to primary reports, a police officer sustained injuries during the incident, and the police were obstructed in the performance of their duties. The arrest occurred around 10.30 pm when the police arrested Chenthamara while he was on his way home to Boyan Colony. previously, a joint search had been conducted by the police and locals in the Pothundi region after Chenthamara was spotted in the area. At that time, he had been hiding in a chicken farm at a friend's house.

Chenthamara’s Arrest and local outrage

The police reported that they successfully captured Chenthamara in a field while he was en route to his residence, just as they were about to conclude the search operation. Following the arrest, Chenthamara was taken to the Nenmara police station at approximately 11 pm. However, upon hearing the news of the arrest, an angry crowd of locals gathered outside the station in protest. 

In response to the escalating situation, the locals reportedly broke down the gate of the police station, prompting the police to take action. The police were forced to lathi-charge the crowd on three separate occasions in an attempt to disperse the protesters and restore order.
