Man behind fake drug case in Chalakudy a history-sheeter

Kochi: Narayana Das, the mastermind behind the fake drug case targeting beauty parlour owner Sheela Sunny in Chalakudy, is a history-sheeter.

According to police, several criminal cases are pending against Narayanadas, including honeytrap, financial fraud and impersonification. He had often committed fraud by posing as a police officer.

Narayana Das, a friend of a relative of the beauty parlour owner, Sheela Sunny, gave a fake tip-off to the Excise department, resulting in her arrest on February 27, 2023, for allegedly holding 12 LSD stamps valued at Rs 60,000. The excise officials then maintained that Sheela had been involved in illicit drug business under the pretext of running the parlour.

In a raid that followed, excise officials found 12 LSD stamps hidden inside her scooter and bag. However, the chemical analysis of the drugs revealed that they were not drugs. The High Court acquitted Sheela after accepting this report.

After the incident came out, the officials extended the probe to others. The criminal past of Narayana Das surfaced after he moved an anticipatory bail in the case.

In 2015, the police arrested him for trying to embezzle Rs 2 crores by planting brown sugar in the car of a businessman in Tripunithura. He posed as a cop of Karnataka Police to embezzle money from the businessman. He is also accused in a case of kidnapping another businessman in Tripunithura.
