Mystery looms over source of bomb that left two migrant workers dead in Kannur

Mattannur: The police continued to remain clueless over the source of the crude bomb that killed two migrant workers in Kannur.

Fasal Haqha(45), and his son Shahidul(22), both working as scrap collectors, died on July 6 after coming in contact with the crude bomb.

The father-son duo stored them inside the house, presuming it was something valuable. However, the bomb exploded when they were examining it inside their house. Following the death of the duo in the bomb blast, the bomb squad and others tried to find the source of the bomb.

Police later found that the deceased collected scrap from Chavassery and Pathonpathaam Mile on the day of the explosion. However, the police failed to find any lead in the case even after searching these areas.

It was Shahidul who brought the item containing the bomb to the house. The probe team is also examing whether the object was collected the day before the explosion.

Further, other migrant workers who lived with them said Shahidul and his father used to travel together for a distance of 15 km per day. Therefore, they are unable to verify the places they might have travelled to before the day of the explosion.
