Mysterious deaths on Mahe border; Police groping in the dark

Azhiyur: The police department is still groping in the dark in connection with the two murders and one mysterious death that occurred recently on the Mahe-Azhiyur border area. Though the police investigation has been going on in connection with these deaths, they still have not got no clue to help resolve the mysteries.
It was on March 26 that Sudhakar (32), a Tamil Nadu native, was found murdered in the parking space under construction at Mahe railway station. A case was registered in connection with the murder. Even as the investigation was going on, another dead body of a 60-year-old woman was found on the vacant compound located on the roadside of Mahe railway station road on April 12.
Though police suspects that this too was a murder, it could be confirmed only after verifying the results of the medical examination of the internal organs of the victim.
In yet another incident, which had taken place around two months ago, body remains of a man along with the skull was found inside a locked shop in Kunhippally town on January 12. Though the police could identify the person, the investigation to unravel the mystery behind the death is still going on. In this case also, the police is waiting for the result of medical examination of the body remains. All the three deaths occurred within Chombala police station limits.
The investigation in connection with the death of Sudhakar of Tanjore is being led by Vadakara DySP K Vinod Kumar. The police had got the visual of the suspected person after checking the CCTV visuals from the area. Though they got the visual of the suspect, they couldn’t identify the person. Police have issued a notice to identify the person seen in the CCTV footage. Police is of the assumption that Sudhakar was got hit on his head with something heavy.
There were injuries on the head of the unidentified woman, who was found dead on a vacant compound. Though it was initially suspected that the two deaths have some connections, the police now says there is no connection between the two murders. The doctors who conducted post-mortem said that the cause of death was internal bleeding. Though many people had seen the woman at Mahe and nearby areas, nobody could identify the person. It is suspected that she was a vagabond from Tamil Nadu. People had seen the woman with a man at many places. But, he was missing since her death.
The police had identified the person who was found dead inside a shop as one from Koyilandy. They wait for the DNA results to get it confirmed.
Mahe railway station precincts, Azhiyur and Puzhithala regions have become a haven for people who come looking for liquor from Mahe. As the number of crimes including murders have been going up in the region, people have started demanding a strong surveillance in the region.
“The police surveillance in the region has been strengthened”, said Vadakara DySP K Vinod Kumar.
