LSG polls: HC order a setback for LDF, says Mullappally Ramachandran
Thiruvananthapuram: The High Court verdict was a setback to the Left Democratic Front (LDF) which hoped to win the Local Self Government (LSG) polls using the outdated and flawed voters list of 2015, said KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran.
He added that everyone with democratic understanding welcomed the HC verdict not to use the 2015 voters list in the ensuing LSG polls.
“The state government, its employees and the CPM tried to sabotage the LSG polls by using the 2015 voters list. The HC order which increased the reputation of the judiciary was a severe blow to the government which moved forward in violation of democratic principles,” alleged Mullappally Ramachandran.
“Voting is a citizen’s fundamental right. The Kerala government tried to snatch this away. Both the government and CPM are afraid of losing the LSG polls,” alleged the Congress leader.
Mullappally Ramachandran also appreciated advocate T. Asif Ali who led Congress’ legal battle in the court.
