Chittoor shrouded in grief as friends, family pay tribute to victims of Kashmir accident

Palakkad: The dead bodies of Malayalees who were killed in the road accident on Srinagar-Leh national highway on Tuesday reached their native place Chittoor. The flight carrying the mortal remains of the accident victims landed in Kochi around 3 AM on Friday. The bodies were kept for public homage at the Chittoor technical school.
The deceased were identified as S Sudheesh (32), R Anil (33), Rahul (28) and S Vignesh (24). Kashmir native Ajas Ahammed Shah, who was the driver of the vehicle, was also killed in the accident. Manoj (24), K Rajesh (30) and K Arun (26), other members of the friends group, sustained injuries in the mishap. Manoj, who is said to be in critical condition, will continue to receive treatment in Srinagar.
The deceased were part of a 13-member tourist group who left for Kashmir via train from Nedungode area in Chittur on November 30. After reaching Kashmir, the group hired two vehicles and commenced their journey to Ladakh.
Tragedy struck when one of the vehicles fell into a deep gorge on the Srinagar-Leh highway near Zojila Pass after their car skidded off the road as there was snow all around.
