Last rites of late MLA KV Vijayadas to be held on Tuesday; CM to arrive at Palakkad

Palakkad: The mortal remains of Kongad MLA K V Vijayadas who passed away on Monday was brought to his residence at Kakkathodu in Elappully here. The body was kept for public homage in the morning.
Later, the body will be shifted to nearby LP School for public homage for an hour and then to CPM district committee office in Palakkad. It is learnt that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will arrive here. The CM will reach Palakkad in helicopter after the assembly session.
MLA Vijayadas passed away on Monday at 7.45 pm while he was undergoing treatment for cerebral haemorrhage at Thrissur Government Medical College after recovering from coronavirus. After testing negative for the virus, Vijayadas was diagnosed with ailments to the heart and lungs.
While undergoing treatment for cerebral haemorrhage, his health condition deteriorated and was taken to the ICU. Vijayadas was undergoing treatment at the Thrissur Medical College for over a month after a surgery.
Vijayadas was the first president of Palakkad district panchayat after it was formed in 1995 and was elected to the Assembly from Kongad in 2011 and 2016. He was a member of the CPI (M) Palakkad district secretariat. He also served as Kerala Karshaka Sangham district president and state joint secretary.
Meenvallam hydroelectric project was realised when he was the president of Palakkad district panchayat. It was for the first time in Asia, a district panchayat took over a hydroelectric project. Vijayadas was also active in cooperative sector and farming. He is survived by his wife Premakumari and sons Jayadeep and Sandeep.
