Mullaperiyar dam crisis: Tamil Nadu CM Stalin's FB page flooded with comments by Keralites

Chennai: Soon after the water level rose in Mullaperiyar dam, the Facebook page of Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin was flooded with requests from Keralites regarding decommissioning of the same.

Keralites are urging Stalin to allow decommissioning of Mullaperiyar dam in view of the safety of the people and also to construct a new dam. They have added several hashtags such as #DecommisionMullaperiyarDam and #SaveKerala along with the request.

Many people including celebrities have already raised the demand for decommissioning the dam. Actor Prithviraj also put up a Facebook post recently regarding the matter.

It is evaluated that as the dam was constructed using surkhi mixture (burnt brick powder and other raw materials), it is likely to get damaged or even break when water level increases.
