Thiruvananthapuram: Woman and child development department would provide support including legal help to the newly-wed woman who suffered injuries in domestic violence at Pantheerankavu, Kozhikode, said Health minister Veena George.

“Since the issue has been brought to the notice, the department has taken steps to conduct an inquiry in connection with the incident”, minister said.

District Women Protection Officer has communicated with the relatives of the newly wed woman and ensured them the support of the department.

“If the girl needs counselling, the government would take steps to give it”, minister said. “The attack was brutal and so shocking. Strong legal actions would be taken so that such cruelties would not be repeated. The society would stay united against such social evils”, Veena George said.
