Milma rolls out ‘Mili Cart’ EVs to deliver ice creams and dairy products in Kerala

Kozhikode: The Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation, popularly known by its brand name Milma, has launched 'Mili Cart', an electric vehicle designed to deliver Milma ice creams and other dairy products directly to consumers.

The vehicles, equipped with an inbuilt freezer, have been specially designed by Kerala Automobiles Limited, a state-run enterprise, exclusively for Milma.

As part of the initial phase, 10 such carts have been launched across the five districts of Malabar. The main objective is to make Milma ice creams easily available at beaches, popular tourist spots, and major junctions. Plans are also underway to expand the distribution of other Milma products through these carts.

The official flag-off and key handover ceremony was held at the Central Products Dairy in Naduvattom. Milma Chairman K.S. Mani inaugurated the new fleet and said, “Thirty Mili Carts have already been deployed for Milma’s three regional unions across the state. Based on their performance, we plan to launch 70 more carts in the near future. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every panchayat has access to a Milma Mili Cart.”

Milma’s products are gaining popularity overseas as well. Milma dairy whiteners are now exported to Gulf countries in collaboration with the Lulu Group, with an initial order of 35 tonnes. Additionally, Milma UHT milk and juices are being exported to the Maldives. The online sales of Milma products through Instamart have also seen significant growth. The Chairman added that consumers in cities like Chennai, Mumbai, and Bengaluru will soon be able to receive Milma products at their doorstep through Instamart.

The launch event was presided over by K.C. James, Managing Director of Malabar Milma. R.S. Vinod Kumar, Senior Manager of Kozhikode Dairy; P.R. Santhosh, Marketing Manager; and Kozhikode Dairy Marketing Organiser Sharath Chandran also spoke on the occasion. Following the ceremony, a roadshow featuring the new Milma Mili Carts was held across Kozhikode city.
