Mathrubhumi journalist Nileena Atholi bags G Venugopal Media Award

Kottayam: Mathrubhumi Online sub-editor Nileena Atholi won the G Venugopal Media Award constituted by Press Club here in memory of veteran journalist and former News Editor of Mangalam Newspaper. She was selected for the award in the best political report category.

Nileena bagged the award for a news report series titled ‘Rakhshayilla Lakshadweepinu’ (no respite for Lakshadweep) which was published on Mathrubhumi Daily and Online. The series covered the human rights violations faced by the island dwellers.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 15,000, a sculpture and a certificate of merit. 

Nileena has also won the Ramnath Goenka Award, National Media Award, Vivekananda Puraskaram of Kerala government, Kerala Media Academy Award, Laadli Media Award, and various other awards. 

She is the daughter of Parappanangadi natives Narayanan Atholi and Shylaja. She is married to Gautham. Nithara is her daughter.
