Mathew Kuzhalnadan’s resort: Revenue department in soup

Idukki: The conduct of the revenue department with respect to NOC related formalities at Mathew Kuzhalnadan’s resort in Chinnakanal has landed the authorities in a soup. One of the major allegations is that the department made interventions favouring Kuzhalnadan.
It may be noted that Kuzhalnadan approached the revenue department to get the property number, which is a prerequisite for obtaining a no objection certificate (NOC).
According to reports, village officer Sunil J Paul submitted a false report, which turned crucial in obtaining NOC. The report submitted without proper inspection claimed that the property is 10 years old. However, it came to light that the major property in the resort was constructed only after 2014. Also, the other properties in the resort were constructed after 2017.
Similarly, the land in which the resort exists comes under LA Pattayam. The Land Assignment Rules 1964, clearly states that the land under LA Pattayam can be used only for the construction of houses or for agricultural purposes.
