Mariyakutty, 86, to move Kerala HC alleging misinformation campaign against her

Idukki: Mariyakutty, 87, who had earlier observed a protest by holding earthen pans and seeking alms at Adimali Town after not receiving her welfare pension, has decided to move to the High Court against CPM activists for allegedly disseminating fake news about her. 

Mariyakutty claims she has a certificate issued by the Mannamkandam village officer declaring that she had no land registered in her name in the village. This contradicts the assertion of CPM activists that she owned 1.5 acres of land and two houses.

Mariyakutty, who had staged a protest along with another woman in Adimali, was subjected to severe cyber attacks. 

The social media posts claimed that her four daughters were financially successful, including a daughter living abroad. She alleged that CPM workers attempted to depict her protest as unreasonable and a publicity stunt.   

However, now the tide is in the favour of Mariyakutty, who is currently challenging the people to locate the houses and the lands they claimed she possessed. The certificate produced by the village officer appears to establish that she does not own any land. 

Mariyakutty and Anna Ouseph (80) launched a protest against the state government last week for not releasing their welfare pensions on time by seeking alms at Adimali.
