Golden Kayaloram implosion: Third siren sounded

Maradu: The second round of implosion is scheduled at 2 p.m, when the Golden Kayaloram flats comprising around 66 flats, will be brought down.

There has been a delay of 26 minutes in sounding the first siren and the district administration said that the delay was due to last round inspection. The first siren was sounded at 1.56 pm. And the second and third siren went off at 2.19 pm and  2.24 pm respectively

Of all the 4 apartment complexes that were directed to be razed down, the smallest is Golden Kayaloram.

Ahead of the blast, early on Sunday morning all the residents in the vicinity of 200 metres from the neighbourhood were evacuated by the police. 14.8 kg of explosives have been filled into the apartment for the implosion.

The first siren will be sounded at 1.30 pm and the second and final siren will be sounded at 1.55 and 1.59 pm. Traffic regulations have already been implemented in the nearby areas.

The apex court had on September 6 ordered its demolition by September 20 for violating the Coastal Regulation Zone rules.

Residents in the neighbourhood moved out and Section 144 of CrPC came into force at 8 am in the evacuation zone ahead of the demolition of Jains Coral Cove to ensure there was no untoward incident.
