Man strangles wife undergoing dialysis, then attempts suicide by jumping from hospital building

Thiruvananthapuram: A man strangled his wife to death at the SUT Hospital in Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram. The deceased has been identified as Jayanti, a native of Karakulam, who was undergoing dialysis treatment. After the murder, her husband, Bhasurendran, attempted to end his own life. He is currently in critical condition.

The incident took place early Thursday morning. Jayanti had been under treatment at the SUT Hospital for the past few days, with her husband accompanying her. He allegedly killed her using the cable meant for charging the electric bed and then jumped from the fifth floor. He fell near the staircase inside the hospital building.

According to police, Jayanti had been undergoing dialysis treatment for nearly a year, and the family had been facing severe financial difficulties related to her treatment expenses. The police have not yet recorded Bhasurendran’s statement.
