Cherthala man blames Covidshield for mother's illness; issues death threat to panchayat member

Cherthala: A young man residing in the 15th Ward of Vayalar Gram Panchayat has issued death threats to panchayat member Bina Thankaraj, claiming that she is the reason for providing the Covishield vaccine to his mother during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bina Thankaraj, who also chairs the Panchayat Health and Education Committee, received the call at 10:42 pm on Tuesday. The caller expressed concerns about the news that people who received the Covishield vaccine might face physical health issues.
 
He went on to claim that his mother had several health issues, allegedly due to receiving the Covishield vaccine. He threatened that if anything happened to his mother, he would hold Bina Thankaraj responsible and kill her.
 
Despite clarifications that the vaccine was neither made nor given to everyone by the panchayat, the man paid no heed.
 
The panchayat administrative committee has filed a complaint against the young person over the matter.
