Man found dead on premises of house in Idukki; locals allege he escaped after theft

Idukki: A man was found dead on the premises of a house in Nedumkandam on Tuesday morning. Senapathy native Joseph was the deceased. Locals said that he was seen running away from the house of Rajendran after an alleged theft and was later found dead on the premises of a neighbouring house. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation into the matter. 

It is learned that Joseph broke into Rajendran’s house on Tuesday. Rajendran woke up in the middle of the night and chased Joseph while trying to capture him. They are also said to have engaged in a scuffle. Rajendran said that Joseph soon broke free and ran away. 

Joseph was found dead by 5.30 am on the premises of a house situated 100 meters away from Rajendran’s house. A knife, torch, umbrella, a pair of sandals and a cover with meat were also found lying around the body. 

The police team who arrived at the spot has started an inquest into the matter. The police officials informed that the cause of death can only be confirmed after conducting post-mortem.
