Man confesses of killing friend previously reported missing; says dumped her body in a gorge

Kozhikode: A male friend of missing woman in Kuttikattoor has confessed to have killed her. He told cops that the dead body was dumped in the Nadukoni gorge.
Sainaba had gone missing on November 7 and a missing case was registered by her relatives at the Kasaba station on November 8. A probe into the call records of Sainaba led the police to Samad, a 54-year-old man hailing from Malappuram. Samad has apparently told the police that he ended up killing Sainaba in a bid to steal her gold.
With Samad’s confession, the Kasaba police are now proceeding the investigation on murder charges. They have launched a search operation in the Nilambur-Gudalur region, for spotting the body.
As per the confession of the accused, Sainaba got into a car from the New Bus Stand surroundings in Kozhikode around 1:30 PM on November 7. Samad’s friend Sulaiman also travelled with them to Mukkam. Later on, the woman was strangled to death and dumped into a gorge.
Sainaba was reportedly wearing 17 sovereigns of gold.
Meanwhile, Sainaba’s husband James aka Mohammed Ali claimed that she also carried Rs 3 lakhs and ornaments with her. The money was apparently saved for conducting the marriage of their grandchild. “I work as a security guard. I was away from home on November 7. When I reached home the next morning, I found the house locked. The house owner told me that my wife had left the place yesterday. Along with the money, Sainaba also carried bank passbooks and other documents with her,” said James.
