Kannur: KPCC executive committee member Mambaram Divakaran stated that he is not going to contest against Pinarayi Vijayan in the upcoming assembly election. Divakaran told Mathrubhumi News that he cannot tolerate the approach of some Congress leaders in Kannur.

Mambaram Divakaran had come forward to contest against Pinarayi Vijayan in Dharmadam in 2016. However, he stated to Mathrubhumi News that he will not enter the fray against Pinarayi Vijayan anymore.

“I have no plans to contest against Pinarayi Vijayan. If the party high command asked me to contest against Pinarayi Vijayan, I have responsibilities as a Congress worker,” he added.

“I am personally close to Pinarayi Vijayan, but politically disagree with him. Though I blindly hate Communists, I’m fed up now. It is because of the approach of some Congress workers in Kannur. So, I won’t contest against Pinarayi Vijayan. I have no problem with who contests against him,” he said.

“I worked for Congress for five decades and they gave me no recognition due to the vested interests of some people. Finally, Mullappally Ramachandran and K C Venugopal appointed me as KPCC executive council membership,” Mambaram Divakaran stated.
