Boy strangles Malayali nursing student to death in Chennai; uploads photo as WhatsApp status

Chennai: A Malayali nursing student was strangled to death by her boyfriend in a hotel room in Chennai. The boy recorded the visuals of the crime in his mobile phone and uploaded it as his Whatsapp status. The deceased was identified as Fousiya (20), a native of Kollam. Her boyfriend M Aashiq (20) who committed the crime was arrested by the police. Aashiq also hailed from Kollam.

Fousiya was a second year nursing student at Balaji medical college at Chrompet in Chennai. 

According to the police, Aashiq and Fousiya had booked a hotel room in Chrompet on Friday. Following an argument, Aashiq strangled Fousiya to death using his t-shirt. He recorded the video of the gory act using his mobile phone as well. He uploaded the video as his Whatsapp status. A few of Fousiya’s friends who saw the status alerted police. Police rushed to the crime spot and arrested the boy. Dead body of Fousiya was shifted to the government medical college in Chrompet for postmortem.

Police also said that Aashiq and Fousiya had got married when they were minors. Their child is said to be housed in an ashram in Mysore. Apparently, Aashiq was jailed previously under POCSO act for marrying Fousiya when they were minors. After getting released from jail, Aashiq started staying in Chennai to maintain contact with Fousiya. It is known that an argument had broken out between the couple over Aashiq’s relations with other women.
