10-yr-old boy falls to death through exit door of train on way to toilet

Kottayam: In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old boy fell off from the exit door of train on his way to toilet. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Ishan from Pullipadam of Mampad, Malappuram district and the incident happened on Kochuveli-Nilambur Rajya Rani Express on Monday.
The class 5 boy of Mampad MMUPS school was travelling with his family members. They were returning from Thiruvananthapuram after visiting Ishan’s aunt, who was married two days back. The cherishing and memorable moments of the family turned upside down with the incident.
The parents of Ishan did not accompany him as his mother is pregnant. According to Ishan’s grandfather Alavikutti, the boy told the family members that he wants to go to toilet. It was 12 in the night and as Alavikutti was sleeping Ishan’s aunt accompanied him. The boy walked a distance but lost balance and fell from the exit door of train which was kept ajar. Though his aunt rushed and grabbed him by his hand, she could not hold him tight. Alavikutti said he could have saved him if he had accompanied the boy, managing to contain the emotional breakdown.
By the time Alavikutti reached the door somebody pulled the chain and stopped the train. The passengers alighted from the bogie and tried to locate the boy. The residents of the region also extended help. Though the boy was rushed to a hospital he succumbed to injuries on his spinal cord and head. The body, after completing autopsy, was taken to his native place.
Family members are still grief stricken and can’t overcome the tragedy. Ishan is son of Siddique and Jasna.
