Major fire breaks out at Kozhikode printing press; massive losses reported

Kozhikode: A massive fire broke out at a private printing press on Joseph Road in Vellayil on Sunday afternoon, resulting in extensive financial damage. The incident occurred around 2 pm at 'Red Star' press.
The fire originated at the rear of the ground floor of the four-story building, an area primarily used for housing printing machinery and storing large quantities of paper.
The blaze destroyed several printing machines along with a vast inventory of paper reels and bundles intended for printing. In addition to the industrial equipment, numerous batteries and approximately eight air conditioning outdoor units were melted in the heat. Preliminary estimates suggest that paper reels worth ₹1 crore alone were reduced to ashes.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
