Rahul Gandhi lauds Loka Kerala Sabha, UDF lands in trouble after boycott

Thiruvananthapuram: Indian National Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi appreciated Loka Kerala Sabha organised by the state government to bring Non Resident Keralites in the development of the state. Rahul’s appreciation received attention when Congress and UDF boycotted the event.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted Rahul Gandhi’s appreciation letter on Thursday.

“The Loka Kerala Sabha is a great platform to connect with the diaspora and recognize their contribution,” noted Rahul Gandhi in the letter.

He also congratulated the members of the Malayalee diaspora for their phenomenal success and for being worthy ambassadors of the state.

Rahul has sent the letter to the state government on December 12.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Rahul Gandhi for his warm greetings to the Loka Kerala Sabha.

At the same time, UDF boycotted the event alleging that the event turned out to be an extravaganza where the government is spending huge money amidst the financial crisis.

The opposition alleged that none of the decisions taken in the first edition of the Loka Kerala Sabha have been implemented till now by the LDF government.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennitha resigned from the Vice Chairman post of Loka Kerala Sabha.

UDF leaders did not attend the inaugural function of the meet held at Nishagandhi auditorium on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, disappointing the UDF, a group from Muslim League extended support to the Loka Kerala Sabha.

A group of Muslim League leaders opined that boycotting Loka Kerala Sabha organised for the Non Resident Keralites will affect UDF. At the same time, KMCC leaders alleged that UDF’s decision to boycott the event will help LDF influence the Malayalee diaspora.
