LDF warns JDS against sailing on two boats, demands to clarify stance

Thiruvananthapuram: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has reportedly asked the Kerala faction of the Janata Dal Secular (JDS), to clarify their stance in connection with the JDS deciding to align with the ruling NDA at the national level. According to available reports, the LDF has warned the JDS against sailing on two boats and demanded to clarify its stance immediately.
In the wake of the current crisis, those MLAs who won elections representing the party will have to face several legal complications, if they decide to defect to another party. Considering this, JDS has called for a meeting on October 7. Meanwhile, the party’s Kerala leaders, Mathew T Thomas MLA and Minister Krishnankutty, have begun efforts to meet HD Deve Gowda, JDS patriarch and former prime minister.
Meanwhile, one faction of the JDS has demanded to cooperate with the Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD). However, the faction led by Mathew T Thomas is reportedly against the move. Nevertheless, the CPM fears that the current stance of the JDS leaders could be a setback for the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
