Graft charges: Kuzhalnadan approaches vigilance seeking probe against Kerala CM, daughter

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leader Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA submitted a complaint to the Vigilance Director seeking a probe against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter for allegedly receiving monthly payments to the collective tune of Rs 1.72 crore from a mining firm. 

Speaking to the media after filing his complaint, Kuzhalnadan on Thursday said there is adequate evidence to corroborate his revelations against the Chief Minister and his daughter, Veena Vijayan. He added that he had demanded a probe by invoking the Prevention of Corruption Act. 

Kuzhalanadan, who faced heavy criticism from LDF in connection to his allegations, said that he has the backing of his party. 

Earlier, the diary of a Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) official contained a reference to a person called PV. Kuzhalanadan reiterated on Thursday that ‘PV’ is ‘Pinarayi Vijayan’. 

A controversy had erupted over some financial transactions between Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) and Chief Minister Vijayan's daughter, T Veena, and her IT firm.

Evidence has also cropped up that showed that the company had dealings with top leaders of both the ruling CPM as well as the opposition Congress-led UDF.

CMRL allegedly paid the CM's daughter Rs 1.72 crore between 2017 and 2020 despite the fact that her firm provided no services.
