Idukki: MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan has reacted sharply after district collector granted approval to take over the ‘poramboke’ land which were alleged to be part of the latter’s resort in Chinnakanal.

It should be noted that, earlier, the revenue department had submitted a report to the district collector backing the vigilance findings claiming that strips of government lands were taken over during the construction of the resort. The report was given by Udumbanchola land revenue tehsildar.

“I have not taken over a single inch of land after buying the property by any means. All I did was strengthen an already existing protection wall in the plot. I have no clue on how such allegations are being made,” said Kuzhalnadan.

“Don’t ever think I will back off fearing such allegations. You can never demean my spirits,” added the Congress MLA.

“I have not purchased that property using corrupt money. My family has been into agriculture for generations. It’s my hard earned money that I have invested for buying the property. I would ask the officials not to hurt the self respect of a farmer,” he warned.

The veteran Congress leader also said that he is willing to cooperate with any investigation related to the controversy.
