Kollam: Kudumbashree is all set to serve delicious food to the officials who are assigned to ensure smooth and fair elections on Friday. Entrusted by the Election Commission, Kudumbashree has taken over the responsibility of providing food to the officials, preparations for which have already begun.

The decision in this regard was taken by the Election Commission to ensure green polls and to reduce the amount of waste generated during the elections. A specific amount has been allotted to the officers for the same.

Food will be delivered by Kudumbashree members at the polling booths spread in the 11 constituencies in the district.

Kudumbashree Cafe, Janakiya Hotel, and Ayalkootam will deliver food to the Electoral Officers. The food includes dinner on Thursday, besides breakfast and lunch on Friday.

The Kudumbashree Mission District Coordinator has the charge of the Welfare Nodal Officer for the Lok Sabha Elections in the district.

The process of selecting the cafe unit has been completed.

This is not the first time Kudumbashree has undertaken the responsibility. It has delivered food during the last Lok Sabha, assembly and local self-government elections as well, said R Vimal Chandran, coordinator, District Kudambashree Mission.
