Child-elderly care, house chores: Kudumbashree to extend helping hand to solve quandaries of common

Kozhikode: In the perpetual juggle of balancing home and office responsibilities, many yearn for a helping hand to cook a warm meal or care for children. Kudumbashree has provided a solution with its ‘Quick Serve’ initiative, offering services from cooking to elderly care.
The service is set to launch in the city within a month. This employment scheme for women aims to enhance convenience in people’s lives and was approved during a Corporation Council meeting.
'Quick Serve' falls under ‘We-Lift’, a comprehensive employment scheme by the Kudumbashree Kozhikode unit. The initial phase includes services such as caring for bed-ridden patients, the elderly and children, general housework, cleaning, and cooking.
The scheme involves entrepreneurial groups comprising three to eight Kudumbashree members. An independent office and a 24-hour call centre will ensure efficient service delivery. Rates for each service will be fixed, with a portion paid to the group by those availing the services.
P Divakaran, Chairman of the Corporation Welfare Standing Committee, stated plans to train over 100 women initially. Depending on the initiative’s success and public demand, additional training will be provided to more women. 'Quick Serve' services are already operational in various parts of the state.
