Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will observe a 24-hour strike on Tuesday across the state to protest against the delay in salary, pension distribution and other benefits of employees.

Efforts to avert the strike failed after talks between KSRTC CMD Pramoj Shankar and union leaders ended without a resolution. The strike, announced by the Transport Democratic Federation (TDF), a coalition of INTUC unions, will begin Monday midnight.

The strike has been called to demand the timely distribution of salaries and pensions, clearance of the pending 31% dearness allowance, an end to the privatisation of nationalised routes, and the issuance of a government order on the wage revision agreement.

TDF Vice Presidents D Ajayakumar and T Soni stated that the strike was unavoidable as the management failed to provide assurances regarding even employees' salary distribution.
