Kochi: Kerala High Court has raised concerns over the KSRTC Royal View double-decker bus, questioning how it was allowed to operate with decorative lights that violate safety regulations. The court has directed authorities to submit all relevant documents related to the matter. KSRTC is asked to file an affidavit on the matter.

The petition has been adjourned for further consideration on February 21. A division bench comprising Justice Anil K. Narendran and Justice S. Muralikrishna issued the directive.

The court is hearing petitions related to the illegal modification of vehicles. It observed that no relaxation of the Motor Vehicles Act is permissible, even for government vehicles.

Meanwhile, the court rejected an application filed by the Munnar Tourist Taxi Drivers' Association, which sought to become a party to the petition. The association argued that the launch of the KSRTC Royal View double-decker bus service had disrupted the livelihood of local taxi drivers.

The court clarified that this issue could not be addressed under the current petition and advised the petitioners to approach the appropriate legal forum for a resolution.
