KSRTC bus catches fire in TVM, no casualty
Thiruvananthapuram: A KSRTC bus suddenly caught fire at Chempakamangalam here. No one was injured in this accident. This occurred at around 8:30 in the morning.
The ‘Ordinary’ bus that plys between Attingal and Thiruvananthapuram broke down when it reached Chempakamangalam junction. When the bus driver got down to inspect, the auto drivers standing nearby alerted him about the smoke coming from under the bus.
With this, the driver acted quickly, switching off the engine and asking the passengers to alight the bus. Due to this timely evacuation, none of the passengers were hurt and tragedy was averted. As soon as the passengers alighted, fire engulfed the bus. The interior was completely aflame.
Fireforce rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. Two units of the fire rescue team from Attingal reached the spot. Attempts are underway to remove the burnt bus from the national highway.
