Thiruvambadi incident: KSEB expresses willingness to restore power, insists on safety of employees

Kozhikode: KSEB has come out expressing their readiness to restore the electricity to Ajmal’s house on the condition that an assurance should be given regarding KSEB staff or employees would not be attacked again. In a Facebook post, KSEB has officially announced that the board has requested Kozhikode district collector Snehil Kumar Singh to send officers to obtain an assurance from the part of the family of Ajmal regarding this.

KSEB mentioned that Ajmal's father, Razack, has 11 electricity connections, out of which 10 are commercial connections. It was noted that the bills for these connections are not paid regularly. KSEB further stated that verbal threats and arguments often occur when they attempt to disconnect the electricity due to non-payment of bills. KSEB emphasized that they will seek compensation for the damages caused during the attack. Chairman Biju Prabhakar conveyed this information.

KSEB expressed their willingness to reconnect the power today itself  if assured of no further attacks, emphasizing their intent to pursue legal action for the recent incident.Meanwhile, the police recorded a statement from Ajmal's mother regarding the complaint against KSEB staff’s misbehaviour.

It was on Saturday that U Ajmal and his brother barged into the KSEB section office at Thiruvambady vandalising the office and attacked the staff over a dispute in connection with the temporary disconnection of power supply of their house. During the attack, an estimated damage of Rs. 3 lakh took place, the officials said.
