‘Power failure’; KSEB backtracks and restores connection at Razack’s house

Kozhikode: As the disconnection of electricity in the house of Ullattil Abul Razack sparked off a controversy, KSEB has finally bowed down before the public outrage, restoring the power on Sunday evening. Following the instructions from Kozhikode collector Snehil Kumar Singh, tahsildar has reached the house of Razack and spoke to him regarding the incident.
Shortly after the tahsildar's visit, the connection was restored, ending the controversy around 8:30 pm on Sunday. "This is a victory for our fight," said Razack.
KSEB had disconnected the connection earlier due to Razack's failure to pay pending arrears on his electricity bill on time. In response, Razack's sons attacked KSEB staff and vandalized the KSEB section office at Thiruvambadi. Enraged over this, KSEB initially refused to restore the connection.
Electricity Minister Krishnankutty justified the officials' actions, stating that attacking employees is unacceptable. On Sunday evening, KSEB officially announced their readiness to restore power on the condition that their staff would not face attacks when visiting Razack's house. They also demanded a written assurance from Razack's family regarding this condition, which drew criticism from the public.
Due to widespread public criticism of KSEB's perceived retaliatory and unlawful actions, officials softened their stance and took steps to resolve the controversy. As part of this effort, the tahsildar visited Razack, after which KSEB staff reinstated the connection.
