Kozhikode: The family of the real estate dealer who went missing from Kozhikode are planning to lodge a complaint with the Chief Minister. Mohammed Attur, a native of Balussery, went missing ten months ago. The family is planning to write to the Chief Minister, demanding that the police investigation be intensified.

On August 21, 2023, Mohammed Attur alias Mami went missing. His wife Ramlath said that Mami, who left home at 11 AM that day, spoke to her on the phone at 2:PM, 4 PM and 6:50 PM. She sent a message to him on WhatsApp at 7 PM and received a reply at 7:20. After this, there has been no information about Mami, she says.

Ramlath became suspicious after some people called her on the phone the next day because of not being able to contact Mami. She called the driver who informed her that there was a property registration scheduled that day and the person involved said that Mami would come for this. But he failed to show up.

A police complaint was lodged on the same day. Ramlath said that she remained silent till now as she was hoping for a positive outcome from the police investigation but the fact that he has not been found even after 10 months is a cause for concern. Reports indicate that Mami was present at the Araidathu mosque at 6:50 on August 21 during prayer time.

The family demand a more intensified investigation and point out the failure of the police in finding a person who went missing from the heart of the city. The locals have formed an action committee to find Mami. A writ of habeas corpus was also filed in the High Court. The family had earlier submitted a complaint to the chief minister when he came to Kozhikode as part of the Nava Kerala Sadas.

Ramlath said that she plans to meet the chief minister in person and file a complaint. The police have recorded the testimonies of more than 600 people and taken the statements of more than 240 people in connection with Mohammed Attur’s disappearance. More than 100 mobile phones were also checked. An investigation has also been conducted in other states, but no information has been received about the person.
