Kozhikode: Police found the real parents of the child in the illegal adoption case in Kozhikode. An investigation report has been submitted to the Child Welfare Committee after identifying the parents who are Wayanad natives. The officials of the committee informed that the child would be confidentially handed over to the parents if they are willing to accept. If the real parents refuse to accept the child, the committee will proceed with the adoption procedures and will seek permanent protection for the child.

Meanwhile, the real mother of the child informed police that she would accept the child. A couple from Chakkumkadavu had adopted the baby illegally in 2018. The child was born in a private hospital in the district four years ago. At first, the mother decided to leave the child at ‘Ammathottil’ (Child Cradle) as the baby was born out of wedlock. But discarded the plan when she found that she had to travel to Thrissur with the child. Later, with the help of a caregiver at the hospital, she handed over the infant to a couple from Chakkumkadavu. However, the incident surfaced when one of the children of the couple revealed it to a teacher at school. Soon, the school authority reported the matter to the Child Welfare Committee.

The child has been shifted to a children’s home for temporary protection. Legal action will be taken against the couple who illegally adopted the child.
