Complaint filed against Kozhikode hosp over patient’s death, relatives claim RMO lacks MBBS degree

Kozhikode: The relatives of a patient who died after seeking treatment for chest pain at a hospital here had filed a police complaint alleging medical negligence.

The complaint was filed before Feroke police against TMH Hospital in Kottakadavu and RMO Abu Abraham Luke.

The patient, named Vinod Kumar, was admitted to the hospital around 4:30 a.m. on September 23, suffering from severe chest pain and cough.

According to the complaint, he was prescribed a blood test and electrocardiogram (ECG) without receiving any initial treatment, and he passed away within half an hour of his admission.

An investigation led by Vinod's son, Ashwin, and his friends allegedly revealed that RMO Abu Abraham Luke, who is said to have examined the patient, is not an MBBS graduate. Luke has served as the RMO at the hospital for the past five years. Following the complaint, he has been removed from his position.
