Kozhikode collector’s timely intervention reunites lost Tamil Nadu man with his family

Kozhikode: Timely and smart intervention by Kozhikode district collector A Geetha helped a senior citizen from Ooty who was on a visit to Kozhikode reunite with his family. Ismail, a Tamil Nadu man lost his way in Kozhikode city while he was out for a tea with his family members. Not familiar with the city roads, he eventually moved to the Kallai bridge in search of his kin. Meanwhile, Ismail’s relatives had lodged a complaint with the police stating that he was missing.

Collector Geetha who was on her way back from a site visit in Panniyankara noticed the old man stranded on Kallai bridge. She asked the officials to pull over her vehicle as she observed that the man had stark similarities to the features of the ‘missing’ man she had heard over the walkie talkie.

The collector approached the man and conversed with him in Tamil. The veteran informed Geetha about his situation and his inability to find his relatives. Calming him down, the collector assured that he would be sent back to his relatives. She left the place only after making arrangements for the safe transfer of man to his relatives.
