Woman on scooter hit by car, crushed to death by lorry in Kozhikode; car driver flees

Balussery: In a tragic incident, a 41-year-old woman who fell from scooter to road after reportedly being hit by a car has died as an approaching lorry ran over her. The deceased has been identified as Binila, a native of Karuvanpoyil in Kozhikode. Following the accident, the car which hit her scooter did not stop and fled the scene.

The incident happened on Friday around 4:30 pm. Binila was returning from her parents’ house after seeing off the duo who were to visit her brother living abroad.

A car hit the scooter and she fell into the middle of road. The lorry approaching from the opposite direction ran over her. She was reportedly killed on the spot.

The body has been shifted to mortuary at Kozhikode Government Medical College. Meanwhile, the police are probing about the car which reportedly caused the accident and fled the scene.

Binila is the daughter of Damodaran Nair and Devaki Amma of Koottalida. She is survived by husband Sathyan and children Adinjith and Amarjith.
