Mohammed Shiyas granted bail in Kothamangalam protest case

Kochi: The Kothamangalam Judicial First Cass Magistrate Court granted bail to Mohammed Shiyas, the president of Ernakulam Congress district committee, in a case registered against him for allegedly attacking the DySP amidst a protest demonstration on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, after considering another petition filed by Shiyas, the High Court has directed the police officials not to arrest him in any case up until March 16.
The developments came after the court had granted bail to him in a case for allegedly vandalising a police vehicle during a protest in Kothamangalam in relation to the death of an elderly woman in a wild elephant attack. However, the police tried to arrest him in another case of allegedly vandalising public property. However, a verbal spat ensued, and Shiyas and Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA both found refuge in the court.
Shiyas was arrested along with Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA yesterday while they were participating in a protest demonstration by the Congress in Kothamangalam. However, they were granted bail later.
