Kodungallur–Angamaly bypass final alignment in two weeks, says Nitin Gadkari

Angamaly (Kerala): Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that procedures for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to realise the Kodungallur–Angamaly Bypass road are currently underway, and the final alignment will be decided within two weeks. Minister Gadkari informed MP Benny Behanan, who visited him regarding the project.

DPR procedures are progressing at a rapid pace. Alignment-related tasks will be completed within two weeks. Along with this, the Minister assured the MP that the 3A notification procedures for the Angamaly–Aroor–Kochi bypass, part of the National Highway development, will be urgently completed, and land acquisition processes will commence shortly.

The bypass, which was previously planned as a six-lane highway, is now set to acquire land suitable for eight lanes initially, with scope for expansion to 10 lanes in the future. The Minister informed the MP that land will be acquired to expand the width from the earlier proposed 45 metres to 70 metres, though there will be no major changes to the alignment itself. If the survey work is completed and submitted, the 3A notification is expected to be issued in August.
