Govt should examine how accused in Palathayi case was granted bail: Kodiyeri
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stated that the government should seriously examine how the man who was remanded for raping a minor student in Palathayi was granted bail. It has to be checked if there were any lapses from the part of the police during any stage of the investigation, Kodiyeri said while addressing the media here.
The case was taken up by the Crime Branch after a phase. Then they tried to proceed with the actions, according to reports. Finally, the investigating officer intervened to submit the chargesheet, he said.
The court said that charging POCSO case will be finalised after getting some more details. The accused should not get bail in such a case normally. The government should inquire if there were any lapses on the part of the prosecution or probe team, Kodiyeri said.
Thalassery Additional District Session Court (II) granted bail to the teacher who sexually assaulted a school student at Palathayi in Panoor.
